Yin Yoga is a slow paced class, where poses are held for extended periods.  The focus of practice is to calm the nervous system, bring the body back into balance whilst also helping to regenerate hard tissues (bones, ligaments, joints)on a cellular level.

This is taught in a variable anatomy style, which means there will be options for all bodies and capabilities. Items such as rolled blankets and cushions can be used as props and can actually enhance the poses. An experienced Yin Yogi will always wisely make use of props ?

There is a target area for each pose and students will be encouraged to find the ‘sweet spot’ in each posture.

Students are encouraged to listen to their bodies, ease out of postures early if necessary and only go to about 90 percent of their edge.  Nothing should be forced or pushed.  Yin is non muscular so the muscles can stay relaxed throughout. There can be strong sensation, however this should feel good in the body; there should be no pain.  Afterwards the body should feel lighter and more open.

Practicing Yin Yoga regularly can enhance wellbeing, flexibility, mobility and longevity.

Please discuss any health issues or injuries with your teacher at the beginning of class and bring a mat, blanket and a cushion or two to make your practice as comfortable as possible.  And don’t forget your water bottle.

Please also complete the health questionnaire and bring it with you to the first session if you haven't done one previously.

See you on the mat!

Deborah Curtis

Hello! My name is Deborah and I am a dedicated and passionate practitioner of The Healing Arts, specialising in Yin Yoga, Healing and Transformational Work. I also organise local events, workshops and dance journeys. This work is my life purpose and mission and it all brings me so much joy.
I feel honoured and blessed to be offering my rich Yin Yoga sessions here at Rossett Adult Learning. This and the other modalities I am now trained in, helped heal the deepest parts of me, in body, mind and spirit, and now I have the privilege of enabling others to access the same level of deep healing. I have only lived in Harrogate for just over a year after relocating from London, however I felt at home here from the day I arrived and I am loving every minute of making my life here.
If you haven’t tried Yin Yoga before I strongly advise you to. It blew my mind when I discovered it and I have never felt so well within my body since beginning my own practice. A super support to mobility, flexibility and longevity, soothing to the nervous system and restores the hard tissues of the body (bones, ligaments, joints) at a cellular level! Powerful stuff!
