Summer Floristry for Beginners

This course is suitable for people with some or no floristry experience. We will apply the principles of design through our work. We will look at structured and unstructured designs making hand tied, and hand tied with a willow structure, English meadow design, crescent designs and a fun arrangement suitable for a barbecue or outdoor entertaining.

Additional Costs :

Students are expected to purchase their own flowers and greenery for each session. This is suitable from gardens or hedgerows and the countryside where permitted. There will be a new option to purchase English grown flowers from a local grower that I will discuss at the end of the first session. Please bring a pair of secateurs if you have some at home. Wires, Ribbon, tape, chicken wire and small items will be provided. At the end of each session you will be briefed on what to bring for the next session and will be sent an email covering this and learning points too.

This course aims to:

Develop your skills to be able to make beautiful arrangements for the home or on a larger scale for events / occasions. The focus is on making cost effective designs sourcing local materials and using containers you already have at home.

Please note no class on Friday 21st and Friday 28th June.

Elaine Hadfield

Elaine Hadfield

Elaine has an honours degree in Primary Teaching and a Diploma in floristry from Askham Bryan College graded distinction. After working for a few years in a popular local florists shop learning all aspects of floristry she taught classes to both adults and children as well as successfully working as a freelance florist on weddings , events and working with a variety of florists. Wedding cake speciality work was undertaken designing floral decorations for a local company. Elaine is very excited about sharing her knowledge and enthusiasm with students at Rossett School.
