This course is suitable for beginners, and aims to use environmentally friendly techniques to learn how to make current floral designs for the home.

The principles of design with a focus on form and line will be covered. There will be weekly flower identifications and information on what can be grown in the garden for floral design.

There will be an optional garden visit and opportunity to buy English flowers from a supplier .

You will receive a weekly email of learning points from the previous session snd information on what to bring the following week.

 Additional costs:

 The cost of the course includes materials such as tape/ wires/ chicken wire/ biofoam / ribbons . You will need to bring flowers and greenery weekly . Greenery can be foraged from the garden or countryside. There is no need to purchase expensive flowers you just need something to practice with. Flowers from the garden are suitable. Please bring a pair of secateurs if possible.

Elaine Hadfield

Elaine Hadfield

Elaine has an honours degree in Primary Teaching and a Diploma in floristry from Askham Bryan College graded distinction. After working for a few years in a popular local florists shop learning all aspects of floristry she taught classes to both adults and children as well as successfully working as a freelance florist on weddings , events and working with a variety of florists. Wedding cake speciality work was undertaken designing floral decorations for a local company. Elaine is very excited about sharing her knowledge and enthusiasm with students at Rossett School.
