Seaside Crafts Spring 24

Seaside Crafts 2 Spring 24

A five week course using heat treated driftwood, sea glass and pebbles, which you will use to accentuate a group of small sculptures inspired by nature.

Week 1. Here you will use provided ideas, or bring your own to design your pieces and plan what you need to make. In this first week, you will be shown and assisted, as necessary, to sculpt bees, flowers, birds, sea cottages and a lighthouse to use in your pieces later in course.

Week 2. Painting your clay pieces with acrylics then varnishing to complete the clay components.

Weeks 3, 4 and 5.  Assembling and embellishing your clay sculptures, mounting on freestanding driftwood or wall hanging pieces. You will use your initial designs from week 1 to make up a group of assorted sculptures using the range of materials provided. This will include wood, cord, shells, pebbles beads, moss and other items. Options will include ornaments, framed pictures, mobiles and wall hangings.

We will have completed at least three items.

You will have learnt about applying colours, varnish and using tools and how seaside finds can be made into something to keep.
