Caroline Miekina
I began illustrating and designing in the days when illustrators and designers drew with pens and pencils and coloured in with markers, paint and crayons. After taking the digital leap in 1998 I now enjoy mixing the traditional with the digital and getting the best of both worlds.
I like a lot of variety in my commercial work and I enjoy working in a variety of styles using a variety of media for a variety of clients needing a variety of outcomes.
Where
I’m based in Knaresborough, North Yorkshire.
About
In my many long years of illustrating I’ve worked on everything from Smarties selection boxes to operative technique for surgeons. It’s been a very interesting career path.
Recents clients include:- The Woodland Trust , Newby Hall Estate, The Cromwell Museum - Huntington, Forest and Land Scotland, Eryri National Park.
Alongside my professional practice I have enjoyed over 20 years of teaching in Further and Higher Education, for the last 7 years as senior lecturer on the Open University Masters’ Degree in Creative Practice at Harrogate College, a course that is sadly discontinued.
My personal creative interest and inspiration comes from the local history and environment of Knaresborough and from my Zwartbles sheep, a purebred dutch breed which are very striking in their good looks. They are also friendly and endlessly entertaining.
