Aimed at students who have attended the beginner/improver online course over the summer term, or students who have previously attended piano classes at Rossett school. It is assumed that students will already be familiar with reading music and will be able to play hands together.

Topics covered will include major scales and arpeggios, moving hand positions and more complex types of hands together interaction at the keyboard. Elements of music theory will also be covered.

By the end of the course, students should be able to play an extended repertoire of piano music and at a higher standard. Students will need to have access to a piano or keyboard for each class, and will require the following materials: Books: The Classic Piano Course Omnibus edition by Carol Barratt; ABRSM Piano Grade 1 Scales and Broken Chords (Purple book for syllabus from 2009); Notebook; Pencil & rubber.
