This is the first term of the third year of German and follows on from German Elementary.
The course includes practice of the four language skills - listening , speaking, reading and writing but with particular focus on the first three.
The term will start by revising and consolidating what has been previously learned in the second year, such as talking about daily routine, life in a town, recent events and house and home. We will go on to talk about clothes, holidays, weather, health while covering certain aspects of grammar, such as revision of the past tense, making comparisons and adjective endings.
We will continue to use the text book ( Willkommen 1 German Beginner’s Course 3rd Edition by Paul Coggle and Heiner Schenke ) but new students need not purchase this immediately as the first couple of lessons will involve breaking the ice after the summer holiday, welcoming any new students and settling into German mode! We also use a wide range of other materials such as magazine articles, songs, poems , video clips and online exercises.
There will be plenty of opportunity to practise pronunciation , develop grammatical skills, expand vocabulary and gain confidence in speaking German.
The main objective of the course is to practise and consolidate spoken and written German and have fun while doing so!
