German Beginners Term 3

This is the final term of the beginners’ course and will continue on from the previous term.

The course includes practice of the four language skills  - listening , speaking, reading and writing but with particular focus on the first three.

This third term will mainly consolidate what has been learned previously with regular practice of pronunciation, asking questions and developing knowledge of vocabulary and common expressions.

Students will have the opportunity to practise giving information about themselves as well as developing functional language skills, such as those required for shopping, eating and drinking and making arrangements.

We will cover certain aspects of German grammar such as consolidating the present tense of regular and irregular verbs and word order but this will be integrated into the topic work carried out in class.

We will be following a text book but further details will be given out in the first lesson. There will be no urgency to purchase a text book straight away as the first couple of lessons will focus on breaking the ice, welcoming any new students, and settling into German mode! The text book will however be supplemented by other materials, such as handouts, songs, poems, video clips and online exercises.

The main objective of the course is to practise and consolidate spoken and written German and have fun while doing so!
