German Beginners Term 3

This course is designed for complete beginners and would also be suitable for those with limited knowledge wanting to consolidate what they already know.

There will be plenty of opportunity to practise spoken German through whole class or group work in both formal and informal contexts, with particular emphasis on pronunciation.

Reading and listening to German will be an important feature of the course, together with written practice in order to produce short items such as Emails or postcards.

To this end, we will look at short articles, watch video clips, listen to basic authentic German conversations and take part in role plays. 

There will also be basic grammar coverage, including the gender of definite and indefinite articles, the present tense, basic use of cases , word order etc.

Each lesson will give you the opportunity to practise all four skills - speaking, reading, listening and writing and will consolidate on the learning from the previous lesson.

As well as learning about the language and its use and function in everyday situations, we will also be looking at aspects of German life and culture and generally have fun doing so!
