French Intermediate

This course is aimed for all those wishing to develop their spoken French and their understanding of the spoken and written word and is designed for those with 3-4 years of French learning.
The course includes practice of the four language skills - listening , speaking, reading and writing but with particular focus on the first three.
The term will start by revising and consolidating what has been learned in the previous year, such as talking about the importance of family and friend relationships, discussing past events, giving one’s opinions while at the same time talking about aspects of French culture such as reality TV, modern parenting, friendship benches, ‘blablabla caisses’.
Students will be given plenty of opportunity to develop their spoken French through a variety of methods – video and audio clips, online exercises, magazine articles, songs and poems as well as continuing to follow the chosen text book ( Édito B1 méthode de français 3e edition by didier.fle ) which allows access to online audio and video recordings via an app. The text book will be well supplemented with worksheets and explanations and will help to consolidate key and develop extended vocabulary. New students need not purchase the text book before the course, the first couple of lessons will be a time to break the ice after the summer holiday, welcome any new students and generally settle into French mode!
While knowledge of the main tenses is desirable,( present, perfect, imperfect ), opportunity will be given to consolidate these as well as looking into more advanced grammatical aspects, such as the pluperfect, conditional and subjunctive mood. This will all be incorporated into topic work being covered in class at the time.
The main objective of the course is to practise and consolidate spoken and written French and have fun while doing so!
