Aimed at the students currently on the ukulele level 2 course, plus anyone currently on the ukulele level 3 course who would like to continue their learning at this level. (There will be a mixture of new content and content that we have looked at before in this level 3 course).

Any other student with a suitable level of experience is also welcome to join us. As a minimum, they will need a repertoire of at least a dozen chords and be confident about changing comfortably between them. They are welcome to get in touch for a chat about what additional experience they have, if any, of techniques covered in the level 2 course such as damping, chunking, finger picking and golpe, so that we can tailor the course to suit our group .

Alison Lyon

The course is led by Alison Lyon, of Drums Agogo. Alison has been teaching African drumming for 16 years, to both adults and children, and is known for her clear and accessible teaching style that makes learning friendly and fun. Alison now brings this fresh and friendly approach to the ukulele, which she has played since 2013. She has taught ukulele in schools, and devised the “Ukulele jukebox” part of the course as an instant-fun workshop project which has been enjoyed by everyone from WI groups to Scouts and Guides.
