This course aims to provide the ideal introduction to the language, covering the basic language needed in everyday situations on a visit to Spain. It is for beginners or those who want to refresh their basic language skills. The course has been running for 5 weeks, so is not for complete beginners. Please contact adultlearning@rossettlearning.co.uk if you are unsure whether this course is suitable for you.

The course is divided in three terms and by the end of the three terms students should be able to get by in real life situations in Spain.

 For the first session students will need;

Pen and paper only. Students will be provided with handouts/worksheets which will be the basis of their studies.

This class has been running for 5 weeks and the following subjects have been covered:-

  1. Greetings/farewells

    Giving personal information

    Introducing oneself

    Introducing someone

    Where are you from?

    Where do you live?

    What language do you speak?

    Counting from 0 to 99

    Likes and dislikes

    Family relationships

    Expressing emotions

    Discussing age

    Discussing dates and birthdays Discussing family

    Describing physical appearance Describing character

    Describing your home (currently doing)

    Describing a city/village

    Comparing village and city life

You will be contacted by the tutor prior to the course starting with regard to the platform to be used.

Sebastian Rodriguez

I am a native Spanish lecturer as am eligible for qualified Teacher Status (QTS) in the UK and have a Masters degree in Language Education. I have over twenty years’ experience teaching across a wide range of settings and levels including undergraduate, AS/A Levels, GCSE and Adult Education. I have carried out research in the field of adults learning Spanish in creative ways. Before this chapter of my life in the UK I was an actor and then a theatre director for ten years in Spain. So my teaching is often creative and entertaining! I’m passionate about my language and love helping people learn more about Spanish and Hispanic culture. In my spare time I love going to the theatre, being in my garden learning about plants and trees or sitting down developing my knowledge and love of red wine!
