This course is for: beginners to intermediary learners
The course aims to develop printmaking skills, use of colour, design and line and to take these techniques into simple artist book formats.
The course will cover linocut printing techniques including editioning, reduction and transverse cutting, chine colle. There will be an opportunity to develop a knowledge of expressive use of mark making, colour and composition. Bookmaking skills will include simple techniques such as zines, snake books and concertina books as well as Japanese Binding.
The course is suitable both for beginners and those with experience of printmaking who wish to refine their knowledge and improve the quality of their printing and would be interested in taking these skills into of bookmaking. The course will offer a comprehensive starting point for linocut printmaking and simple artist’s books.
Student’s expectations about the course will be assessed through individual student discussions at the start of the course.
