The course aims:
to develop your painting and drawing skills through different art exercises and help you loosen your approach and become more experimental with mark making.
This course is suitable for all levels from beginners who want to learn to paint but may have been too nervous to try, or artists who would like to explore different ways of working with their mediums in a fun supportive learning environment.
Students’ prior learning and their expectations about the course will be assessed by individual student discussions at the start of the course.
The course will cover:
Learning more about applying different marks, developing a loose and relaxed art style, being conscious about the way you move and translate onto paper through drawing and painting exercises and experimenting with different paint effects.
Evaluation of your learning journey will be measured by reviewing the work at the beginning and end of the course.
How will it work?
Sharon will be sent email addresses and contact details of students who enrol.
She will send out an introductory email to you with detail of the first course project for the week.
We will be using Microsoft Teams as a video link for each lesson and you will be sent an email invitation to join the virtual class each week.
Sharon will be online during class hours to answer any questions and guide you through your creative process and to keep connected with the rest of the group Microsoft teams provide an online ‘Group Chat’ for students to share their work and give each other feedback.
At the end of each lesson you can send a copy of your work for final critique and share on the group internet platform. We can also view development at the start of each new class.
Enjoying the time
As you have the freedom of working from home you may wish to spend more time on the project than just the allocated class times.
You can use the class time to create together knowing as you work you teacher is on hand in the video link.
This is a new and exciting way to learn whilst we all keep safe.
We realise how important our role is in the community and how the adult school of learning enriches peoples minds and connects people with one another.
During these usual times we would like to invite you to take advantage of the time we are home based and develop your creativity and we will still be able to share our experiences develop our minds and achieve through art.
By the end of the course:
Students should feel confident in using a range of painting and drawing techniques and be able to judge, create and assess accurately in different mediums.
