This course aims to:-

Demystify the process of figure drawing and to show how intermediate / experienced artists can translate the evidence of their eye into compelling lines on paper.  The emphasis is upon looking and believing what you see – ‘draw truthfully what you see and the likeness will become evident’.

A nude model will be modelling for you.

Course Requirements: we provide all materials but if you would like to bring your own you are welcome, we will be using the following :

Pencils (HB, 2B, 4B), charcoal, coloured pastels (hard or soft), sketchpad (A2 or A3), fixative spray, pencil sharpener, (water colours optional).

Week 1

Getting started – observation – the human form and proportions, building the figure (using outline silhouettes) – quick sketches.

Week 2

Quick sketches – observation – drawing the figure - pencil/charcoal.

Week 3

Quick sketches – observation – seated nude - pastel/pencil.

Week 4

Quick sketches – observation – standing nude - pencil/charcoal/pastel.

Week 5

Quick sketches – observation – drawing nude model in any pose,

using any media.

Terry Kellett

Terry graduated with a Fine Art degree from Leeds College of Art, and afterwards taught Sculpture at Pudsey College. He then entered the commercial world as Creative Director working in several advertising agencies.

He is a professional artist, he has several solo exhibitions in the Anstey Gallery, and also takes on private commissions. Terry has exhibited at the Patchings Exhibition, Royal Horticultural Society, Saltaire Gallery, and Mall Galleries London.

Terry has been an art teacher at Rossett School for over 10 years and also teaches Watercolours and Life Drawing.
