Lessons in line

When we concentrate the eye, and connect mind to hand, we can extract the lines that express an image minimally and effectively. With practise this work can be very intuitive and produce lines with rhythm & flow that create beauty in and of themselves. The magic one feels when successfully capturing the essence of a subject is joyful.

These 5 weeks of 2.5 hour classes will introduce you to the process of line work. We will experiment with different media, and the line expression derived from each. By practicing and experimenting with this technique, you will explore the possibilities of this as a stand alone approach, as well as a valuable fundamental layer within the other techniques of your developing image making.

Whether you are experienced or a beginner, it is possible for you to gain a level of understanding, and appreciation of line work from this short course. You will amass a small collection of sketches, and some finished work, which could lead to your implementing these techniques into future work. All materials are provided.
