The session begins with gentle seated movement to ease out the physical stress and tension. You are then guided you in to a supported Restorative Yoga pose - you will have cushions and blankets at hand to take the effort out of relaxing.
Restorative Yoga has its roots in ancient yogic tradition, and can be used effectively to treat sufferers of chronic stress and PTSD. Yoga props such as blocks and bolsters are typically used to take the stretchy-ness away from recognisable floor-based poses...comfort and support allows for a deeper sense of restfulness and release. At home we can use a variety of pillows, cushions, blankets and towels - with all poses fully demonstrated and tailored to suit individual needs.
This then leads in to a dreamy Yoga Nidra - guided deep relaxation, often referred to as sleepless sleep. You won’t have far to go afterwards to continue your relaxation.
Students new to this course will be required to complete a confidential health questionnaire to establish any prior learning and to ensure that any specific needs can be taken into account in lesson planning. Please provide written consent from your GP prior to enrolment if you have a medical condition which may affect your ability to participate in the physical practices. All new students to this course will be required to fill in a PARQ form and email to firstname.lastname@example.org prior to the start of the course.
