This course is for;

This course aims to provide the ideal introduction to the language, covering the basic language needed in everyday situations on a visit to Italy. It is for complete beginners or those who want to refresh their basic language skills.

The course is divided in three terms and by the end of the three terms students should be able to get by in real life situations in Italy.

For the first session students will need;

Pen and paper only. Students will be provided with handouts/worksheets which will be the basis of their studies.

Additional Costs;

It is not necessary to buy a book as photocopies will be provided.

This term will cover

  1. Introduce yourself and others.
  2. Use a limited range of basic formalities and courtesies (thanks, apologies, enjoy your meal)
  3. Express difficulties with language (repeat, slow down, I don’t understand etc.)
  4. Hobbies and likes.
  5. Dealing with directions and at the tourist information office.

Rachael Ball

My name is Rachael Ball and I am a qualified teacher of modern foreign languages (QTS). I graduated from the University of Saint Andrews with a First Class Degree in Italian (MA Hons), with Distinction in Spoken Italian. I am fortunate to have lived and worked as a Teacher of English as a Foreign Language (TEFL) in both Rome and Perugia. I also work as a Special Needs Teacher, specialising in communication strategies and language acquisition. I am passionate about Italian Language and culture, with an extensive background thanks to my degree. Having taught Italian to a wide range of ages and abilities, I am adept at creating a learning environment which is fun, interactive and purposeful. I hope that my enthusiasm for Italian language and culture will inspire learners.
