This course will be held in the beautiful English country garden of Prospect House in Burton Leonard.  The garden contains a cutting patch, trained fruit trees, shrub borders, herbaceous borders and a new woodland area. The course will use these facilities to demonstrate techniques and skills used to maintain and enhance the garden including:

Discussing garden styles;

Planting design;

Propagation using division, cuttings and seed growing;

Maintenance techniques involving cutting back, weeding and mulching,

Composting; and other day to day tasks for the autumn garden.

We will also look at planning the cut flower garden for the following year and discuss weed and pest control.

The course will involve a mixture of classroom learning in the newly developed potting shed, as well as outdoor demonstrations.   It is aimed both at beginners and those with an interest in taking their garden to a new level.

Ideally you would bring a pair of gardening gloves and secateurs.
