This course if for students who have completed 4 years of French and who wish to consolidate and extend that knowledge.

The course is divided in three terms and by the end of the three terms students should be able to:

·         understand a wide range of articles and longer texts and also grasp implicit meanings.

·         Express him/herself spontaneously and fluently.

·         Use the language effectively and flexibly in his/her social and professional life.

  • Make clear, structured and detailed statements on complex topics and apply various means of text association appropriately in the process

·         Develop cultural awareness and cross-cultural capability

·         Discuss political and social issues

Topics on:

·         Current affairs in France and the francophone world

  • Contemporary French and francophone culture: literature, theatre, cinema, art, media.

  • Contemporary French and francophone society: customs, new trends.

  • The French language in the world

  • Study of a contemporary French novel selected by students.

Rima Bennett B.A (Hons), Dip. FE teaching, DPSI – law sector. I have lived and studied in Paris and I travel every year to France and Montreal. I have 16 years’ experience in delivering well-structured lessons that have proved successful in inspiring students of all ages and capabilities. This encompasses undergraduates, adult Higher Education courses and one to one GCSE and A level support.
Being trilingual and having lived in many countries, the purpose of my courses is to promote language acquisition and cultural awareness.
Learners will widen their vocabulary, improve their grammatical knowledge and practice their communication skills in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere.
