Floral Demonstration and Guided Practise Continuation

KR 12

Start date: 7th Jul 2022

Time: 10:30 - 16:30

Cost: £45

Day: Thursday

Duration: 1 weeks

Tutor: Katharine Ruddock

Course code: 22SU034

Draw & paint a flower simply and effectively in one day.

Watch a floral demo, step by step… Then be carefully guided through the process.

You will start with practise sketches, then go ahead to produce a simple and effective bloom painting to take home. This image is something you could choose to frame as a one off piece or, going forwards repeat it again & again for very personalised gifts. You could use the same technique for other flowers, expanding your repertoire with practise at home.

Mediums used are Pencil for under sketching, Ink Drawing Pen for the finished image along with Water Colour, Aquarelle Colour Pencil and some Gel Pen detailing. We will be working on good quality water colour paper.

Please note, this course is offered on two separate days. Each day is stand alone, & will cover a different bloom. However, you are more than welcome to come to both days, and if you so choose to keep working on the first days image, building confidence - I’ll be on hand to help you “reach your happy”.

Everything you need for this workshop is provided. All you need bring is an eager & open mind ready for some fun. I look forward to seeing you.

If your interest is sparked please do join us, this day is Suitable for All Levels.

(Actual bloom for each of the days will be confirmed closer to the course date)

NB. For clarity…This is a “stand alone day”, with its own new subject bloom. OR you CAN treat this as a continuation of yesterday, should you want to work more on that piece, with my guidance. Whichever way, you’ll have something to take away with you at the end of the workshop

Katharine Ruddock

Qualifying with a BA Hons from Edinburgh College of Art, and Post Graduate Diploma from The London College of Furniture, my initial working life involved developing design & business skills at an interiors company in London. Later, self employment had me fulfilling creative briefs in illustration, small business logos, and occasional portrait drawing. Concurrently, commissions for domestic interiors grew, and over 23 years I built a successful interior design & decoration business, based largely in London.
More recently, a long held desire to concentrate on my own creative ideas had me return North, progressing my art and sculpture activities. Currently represented at a small gallery in the North East, fulfilling private commissions, and thrilled to be building this new chapter.
It’s exciting being part of Rossett Adult Learning - a really happy piece of life’s creative jigsaw - a lovely opportunity to share in artistic enthusiasm, and such a pleasure… meeting my students!
