The course aims:

To discuss and review the keys skills and strategies needed to build a family tree with many elements being relevant to local and house history. Essential and supplementary sources will be included, working from a skeleton structure to individual, family or village lifestyles.

Guidance on websites will be included as well as suggestions how to evaluate which website is for you and how they can be manipulated to get the best from them.

The course will cover:

Overviews of Recording systems, Civil Registration, Census records and Parish Registers with a brief mention of modern Wills.

By the end of the course students:

Should be able to develop or extend a family tree, a house or local history project through sources and accurate record keeping
