This course is for; Beginners to advanced learners

For the first session students will need; All materials provided but please feel free to bring a picture of landscape (water and countryside) as reference.

This course aims to use a mixture of painting ink techniques together with Pastel to develop your understanding of how versatile this combination can be. This course is for beginners or advanced learners who want to build their core skills and become more confident with colour and how to apply it to describe the landscape in a supportive learning environment.

Students will concentrate on working with a variety of different painting inks and Chalk Pastel, applying them in different ways to explore intensity of colour and how to create depth in a landscape picture. They will also develop an understanding of colour placement, texture and composition.

The course will cover:

Developing an understanding of painting inks

Building texture and combining Painting Inks with Pastel

Colour: mixing, theory, behaviour and composition

Brush control and mark making.

By the end of the course students should feel confident with their progress using a range of Painting Inks and Pastel and be able to judge, create and assess accurately in the combined medium.
