Duration: 5 weeks

This course is suitable for both beginners and those of you with more experience. You may wish to bring a photograph or two of your favourite botanicals, but this is not essential. All materials are provided.
With such a wealth of subject matter, and numerous styles that can be employed, drawing and painting botanicals is a very broad subject.
This introductory course will initially have you observing and drawing in detail. Then we will move on to applying colour in various ways. Guided sketches to start, moving onto a more developed piece of your choice.
A relaxed and experimental approach is encouraged if that is your desired direction. Whilst for those of you who naturally lean towards a classically drawn and painted image, we will work on bringing depth and composition to your piece. It is also possible that you may want to produce multiple small studies, this too is an encouraged route.
The aim of this short 5 weeks course is to open a world of possibility, in terms of depicting botanicals. How these can be practically applied going forwards, and drilling into specific techniques is something we can progress in future development courses should that be desired.
