In this fascinating course Sabrina will guide you through works of art from the Impressionists in the early 19th Century when art moved focus to spontaneous depictions of the outdoors, through to the Avant-Garde in the latter half of the 19th Century when new exciting works of art appeared hand in hand with the changing political landscape. Sabrina will guide you on this course discovering and comparing interesting aspects of the different styles and artists.  Analyzing some fascinating works of art, you will be able to explore the mutual influence between art and society.

Sabrina will email you the images to be discussed for each lesson. If you miss a lesson the class will be available as a recording for you to watch at your leisure.

Sabrina Casarin

Sabrina Casarin has studied Italian Language and Literature at Venice Ca'Foscari University and specialised in History of Art at the University of Milan. She teaches Italian at Rossett Adult Learning and Leeds Beckett University and is also an examiner for the International Baccalaureate. Her extensive knowledge of the History of Art enables her classes to be engaging, amusing and very enjoyable.
