For the first session students will need;

A choice of water based Ink or Paint and an old magazine or newspaper 

 

Additional Costs; None

 

This course aims to encourage creativity with inspired online learning with technical guidance from Sharon.

She will help you develop an understanding of creating Abstract Art, where to start, improving your mark making and how to use colour. 

You will be set Abstract Art projects to progress your art skills each week.

The class times indicate when Sharon will be available to work with you online via video link through Microsoft Teams.

She creates a virtual classroom and helps all students progress their work in turn.

 

How will it work? 

Sharon will be sent email addresses and contact details of students who enrol.

She will send out an introductory email to you with detail of the course projects for the 5 weeks, to inspire your work before the first class.

 

Sharon will be online during class hours to answer any questions and guide you through your creative process and to keep connected with the rest of the group Microsoft teams provide an online ‘Group Chat’ for students to share their work and give each other feedback.

At the end of each lesson you can send a copy of your work for final critique and share on the group internet platform. We can also view development at the start of each new class.

 

Enjoying the time

As you have the freedom of working from home you may wish to spend more time on the project than just the allocated class times.

A new project will be set each continual week detailed on the introductory email to give you time to grab what you need and set up at home for the next lesson.

You can use the class time to create together knowing as you work you teacher is on hand in the video link.

This is a new and exciting way to learn whilst we all keep safe.

 

We realise how important our role is in the community and how the adult school of learning enriches peoples minds and connects people with one another.

During these usual times we would like to invite you to take advantage of the time we are home based and develop your creativity and we will still be able to share our experiences develop our minds and achieve through art. 

 

Knowledge and Guidance

As Sharon is a multi media qualified Art Teacher you will benefit from her knowledge on which ever water based Ink or Paint you choose to use.

This is an opportunity to put to work those art materials you may have been gifted and never got round to using or conquering a medium you always wanted to master.

The course will cover

  1. What makes a good Abstract 
  2. Getting the most out of your medium
  3. Colour behaviour
  4. Abstract and the viewers journey 
  5. Self expression 

 

This course is suitable for beginners who want to build their core skills and become more confident and enjoy art to advanced learners who wish to improve their art methods in a supportive learning environment. 

It would also give previous students the opportunity to explore new techniques and progress their art skills further.

 

Students’ prior learning and their expectations about the course will be assessed by a questionnaire introduction email sent along with the course details.

Evaluation of your learning journey will be measured by reviewing the work at the end of the course and during the course on an art share internet platform

By the end of the course students should feel confident with their progress using a range of methods and be able to judge, create and assess accurately with different techniques

Sharon B.A. (Hons) P.G.C.E QTLS in Art and Design is a self-motivated Art Teacher with a broad range of creative skills, who takes great pride in reaching all learners and making a difference in their development; she has spent her career designing and creating in many mediums and is experienced in teaching Art to a variety of students with different learning barriers. Sharon is an innovative thinker, whose focus is on the student’s journey, she has empathy and passion for Art, with the ability to adapt learning to relate to all levels.
